House of Qalanjo began with a feeling I lived myself

House of Qalanjo was born not from a desire to simply sell clothing, but from a feeling I experienced while preparing for one of the most important moments in my life.

As I planned my wedding, I found myself searching for bridalwear and special occasion pieces that felt beautiful, elevated, and true to my culture. Like many Somali women, I encountered the same challenges again and again: sourcing pieces from overseas, navigating inconsistent communication, waiting months for arrivals, and often purchasing something without ever seeing it in person.

The experience made me realize that we are rarely just shopping for clothing.

We are preparing for milestones, celebrations, and memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. We are looking for something that reflects who we are, where we come from, and the people we share those moments with.

I began thinking about how many other women were navigating the same experience and wishing there was a place that felt both familiar and elevated. A place where cultural authenticity and modern luxury could exist together. A place built with trust, care, and community at its centre.

That is why I created House of Qalanjo.

The name Qalanjo celebrates beauty, grace, and the joy of life's most meaningful occasions. Our tagline, "Welcome Home," reflects what I hope every customer feels when they visit us: a sense of belonging, pride, and connection.
