1. Who We Are

House of Qalanjo is a Canadian luxury fashion house based in Vancouver, British Columbia, offering luxury Somali bridal wear and modest fashion. In this Policy, "House of Qalanjo," "we," "us" and "our" refer to House of Qalanjo; "you" and "your" refer to the person visiting our website, contacting us, or placing an order. We are the party responsible for the personal information handled as described in this Policy.

This Policy works alongside our Terms of Service, which it forms part of.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information that we actually need to operate our website, respond to you, and fulfil your orders. The information we collect depends on how you interact with us.

Information You Provide Directly

  • When you contact us: your name, email address and the contents of your message, submitted through our contact form.
  • When you join the Founder's List: your email address, so we can keep you informed ahead of our launch.
  • When you place an order: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number (where provided), order details and payment confirmation. Orders and payments are handled through our commerce backend (see section 4).
  • For made-to-order and bridal pieces: measurements, fitting notes and styling preferences that you choose to share so we can create your piece.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, limited technical information is collected automatically — such as your device type, browser, general location derived from your IP address, and how you navigate the site. This helps the website function, keeps it secure, and helps us understand and improve the experience.

We do not knowingly collect information from children, and our website and products are intended for adults.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support;
  • Process, fulfil and deliver your orders, including made-to-order and bridal pieces;
  • Communicate with you about your order, fittings, timelines and any issues that arise;
  • Keep you informed ahead of our launch where you have joined the Founder's List;
  • Operate, secure, maintain and improve our website and our products; and
  • Meet our legal, accounting, tax and record-keeping obligations.

We do not currently run targeted advertising campaigns or sell products through automated marketing profiling. If our marketing practices change, we will update this Policy before introducing them.

4. Payments and Order Processing

Our online store, checkout, payments, taxes, shipping and order management are powered by our commerce backend and its payment providers. When you place an order, the information needed to complete your purchase is processed through that platform.

Payment card details are handled directly by the payment providers using their own secure systems. We do not store your full payment card number on our own systems. These providers process your information under their own privacy and security terms.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is necessary to run our business, and only with parties who are expected to protect it:

  • Commerce and payment providers — to process orders, payments, taxes and order management;
  • Shipping and fulfilment partners — to deliver your order;
  • Technology and infrastructure providers — who host our website and store contact and Founder's List submissions on our behalf;
  • Professional advisers and authorities — where required to comply with the law, enforce our terms, or protect our rights, property or safety.

Some of our service providers may process or store information outside your province or country, including in jurisdictions whose data protection laws may differ from your own. Where this occurs, your information remains protected by appropriate safeguards consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

6. Cookies and Analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, support your shopping cart and checkout, and help us understand how the site is used. Some cookies are essential for the website to function; others help us improve it.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do. Our commerce backend may also set cookies as part of the checkout experience under its own terms.

7. Data Retention

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy. Order records are retained as long as necessary to fulfil your order and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations. Contact messages and Founder's List subscriptions are kept until they are no longer needed or until you ask us to remove them.

8. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Access to personal information is limited to those who need it to do their work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take care to safeguard the information entrusted to us.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, and subject to applicable Canadian privacy law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep;
  • Withdraw your consent to certain uses, such as Founder's List or marketing communications; and
  • Ask questions about how your information is handled.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

Note for review: the specific rights, response timeframes and any references to Canadian privacy legislation (including PIPEDA and any applicable provincial law) should be confirmed by Canadian legal counsel before final publication.

10. Third-Party Links

Our website may link to third-party sites or services, such as our social media. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing your information with them.

11. Marketing Communications

Where you have joined our Founder's List or otherwise asked to hear from us, we may send you updates about our launch, collections and news. You can ask to stop receiving these communications at any time by contacting us. Messages relating to an order you have placed are not marketing and may still be sent so we can serve you properly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our business, our website, or the law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be made clear on this page. Your continued use of our website after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
